Shimon Peres' impassioned speech offends Turkish PM

This is the best thing to ever come out of Davos.

From Little Green Footballs; At about 39:20 into this video from the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Shimon Peres launches into an impassioned defense of Israel’s actions against Hamas—provoking an angry outburst from Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who then stalks off stage as Washington Post moderator David Ignatius sputters and the audience sits stunned.

Gee, as much a "peacenik" as Peres is, it must have take a lot for him to speak the truth about what is STILL happening in Israel!

I know the workers at the Istanbul airport have been really rude and un-cooperative with people who are on a layover to Israel. Sometimes, when it rains, such tourists are "delayed" outside so they have to stand in the rain. Luggage isn't treated too kindly either.

It should not surprise us that Turkey's PM is made because Peres didn't show dhimmitude.

I know Tsofah, I was surprised by his rather forceful diatribe. I think it's about time an Israeli leader got angry and told the world off.

Janice,

Would Benjamin Netanyahu govern any differently than Peres or Livni? I know the election Tuesday is supposed to be close.

The mainstream media refers to Ntanyahu's party as the "right-wing Likud party"... I assume that means they're more hawkish.

Great video. Peres surprised me.

Chris, I'm not sure any one of them are strong enough to keep Israel truly safe.

Sharon, who I thought was quite hawkish, caved in to the doves who believe peace could be within their grasp if only they could appease those who want nothing more than their complete elimination.
