As you can tell by my lack of blogging, I've been busy. The new job, preparing for Christmas and general family stuff seem to be a priority. I hope everyone has a blessed Christmas!

CAIR and the ummah help the FBI

Hand-shakes and back-slaps all around CAIR’s Washington DC office. A media advisory whine-o-gram was issued on Wednesday announcing the unindicted terror coconspirator press conference regarding the missing muslim “yutes”. CAIR used this as a springboard to illustrate their patriotism, pointing to their cooperation with law enforcement and the FBI specifically.


I have quite a few thoughts on this “dog and pony show” CAIR, MAS, MPAC and imam Jahori abdul-Malik put on for the press. The families are called “courageous” for coming forward to report their missing “yutes”, the same suspects arrested in Pakistan on terror charges. Prior to the arrests, CAIR helped obtain legal counsel for these families while working with the FBI, to preserve their civil rights. This turned out to be an opportunity for CAIR to appear cooperative by a mere phone call to authorities. Nihad Awad has viewed the video and was “disturbed” by its content. Awad goes on to admit “problems” exist in the ummah and announced a major campaign to refute the misuse of koran verses and certain "grievances" in the muslim world. This campaign, of course, involves education. No details were given on what this would encompass or who is involved in teaching the new islamic world view to muslims residing in America.

In closing, these muslim leaders called for tolerance and not to rush to judgment. Citing the “cottage industry” who’ll seek to exploit this case and marginalize muslims. It seems to me, the ummah needs no help in perpetuating the bad PR around the world.

5 DC area muslim men missing

"Federal investigators are searching for a Howard University dental student and four other missing Muslim men reported missing from the Washington, D.C. area, the Investigative Project on Terrorism (IPT) has learned. There is concern they may have been sent abroad to train for jihad. The five were last seen November 29.

The identities of two of the missing men, Howard student Ramy Zamzam and Waqar Khan, have been mentioned in online postings, including a Facebook page that was set up Monday for friends to offer their support. Some of those pages, however, appear restricted to friends and associates.
It is not clear where the men are believed to have gone, but an informed source told the IPT that at least one left behind a farewell video."

And we all know what happens after those farewell, martyrdom videos are made.....

Grand Jury seeks CAIR records

This just in from the IPT. "Although no formal statement has been made by law enforcement, FBI agents reportedly issued a grand jury subpoena last week seeking internal CAIR documents that are the subject of an ongoing civil lawsuit."

Oh, this is rich! The unindicted terror coconspirators have an islam-oped comparing Thanksgiving to Eid al-Adha. Nihad Awad is having the resident spin-doctor, Ibrahim Hopper; pedal this garbage to the uninformed hoping to shine a gentler light on the RoP.

For CAIR to compare the festival of sacrifice to Thanksgiving is beyond hubris. For the record, Abraham wasn’t asked to sacrifice Ishmael as is islamic tradition.

Using the pay-to-play news service, Hopper submitted Awad’s work hoping to have it hit the editorial pages just in time for Thanksgiving. The comparison ends with the relative coincidence that the two dates share proximity. While 97% of Americans will be feasting this Thursday, muslims will be fasting.

This from Awad; On Friday, Muslims in America and worldwide will celebrate the holiday of Eid al-Adha, or "festival of the sacrifice." "Eid" also commemorates the Prophet Abraham's willingness to sacrifice his son Ishmael at God's command. The holiday is celebrated with prayers, gifts for children, distribution of meat to the needy, and social gatherings. You may hear the greeting "Eid Mubarak," or "have a blessed holiday."

And you know Thanksgiving and Eid al-Adha are now sharing the same spiritual and social space when Best Buy, for the first time, puts a "Happy Eid Al-Adha" in its "Black Friday" newspaper insert. (BTW, Janice will never, ever patronize Best Buy again)

As with Thanksgiving, Eid al-Adha is a time when everyone counts their blessings and offers thanks for friends and family, even if circumstances may not be the best in any particular year.

Being raised between two faiths, it always irked me when people would say Chanukah was the Jewish Christmas when ever it happened to fall at the end of December. The association ends there. Once again CAIR is trying to bind their beliefs to our traditions. If they want to be included in the Christmas tree lighting convert to Christianity don’t called it a holiday tree for the sake of inclusion. I'm just sayin'......

Blogging will be light....

Wow, it’s been a whirlwind of activity for me and I’m here to tell you what’s transpired.

First, I’ve been actively seeking employment for past month. The part-time gig I had wasn’t challenging and I felt my talents were being exploited and wasted. Double digit unemployment here in the Buckeye state and I was able to secure a position with a pharmaceutical company. I start on Monday.

Secondly, Nick and I planned to attend the Rifqa Bary rally this past Monday. The banner announcing the event was posted on my site for a while and we were going to go out and support this young girl. However, on Thursday evening I was called to South Carolina. I left Friday morning and didn’t return until Wednesday.

Then as fate would have it, my plans to arrive early at the Sawmill Borders for a wristband securing my place in line for Friday’s Sarah Palin book signing didn’t happen either. I was asked to report to a “work health” center for a pre-employment drug screening. Who thought it would’ve taken 2 hours. Not me, so I missed out on one of the 1000 wristbands.

So that’s what I’ve been doing.

CAIR, ISNA and others trying to save face

Yesterday’s whine-o-gram was all about saving the reputation of CAIR, ISNA and the Dar al Hijrah islamic center. Anwar al Awlaki, a former Denver, San Diego and Falls Church imam, praised the Fort Hood jihadi while criticizing those muslim groups who paid lip service offered their condolences to the victims and condemned Nidal.

From the relative safety of Yemen, Anwar al Awlaki posted the following on his website (disabled overnight);


“Nidal Hassan is a hero. He is a man of conscience who could not bear living the
contradiction of being a Muslim and serving in an army that is fighting against his own
people. This is a contradiction that many Muslims brush aside and just pretend that it
doesn’t exist. Any decent Muslim cannot live, understanding properly his duties towards
his Creator and his fellow Muslims, and yet serve as a US soldier. The US is leading the
war against terrorism which in reality is a war against Islam. Its army is directly invading
two Muslim countries and indirectly occupying the rest through its stooges.”

“Nidal opened fire on soldiers who were on their way to be deployed to Iraq and
Afghanistan. How can there be any dispute about the virtue of what he has done? In
fact the only way a Muslim could Islamically justify serving as a soldier in the US army is if
his intention is to follow the footsteps of men like Nidal.”

“The heroic act of brother Nidal also shows the dilemma of the Muslim American
community. Increasingly they are being cornered into taking stances that would either
make them betray Islam or betray their nation. Many amongst them are choosing the
former. The Muslim organizations in America came out in a pitiful chorus condemning
Nidal’s operation.”

Now we know how thin-skinned the ummah is and having a critique like this from an imam must be devastating to their already low self-esteem. But the responses are NOT aimed at the praise the former Dar al-Hijrah mosque imam bestowed upon brother Nidal. No, these muslims felt the need to defend their honor and refute the scurrilous hypocrisy accusation. And they do it by attacking his character and distancing themselves from any connection they may have had with the imam.

"As we understand the teaching of the scriptures, our mission and method as Americans of faith is to enrich our society with service, wisdom and beautiful preaching of God's love and mercy to all of mankind.

During Mr. Al-Awlaki's short employment at our center, his public speech was consistent with the values of tolerance and cooperation. After returning to Yemen, Mr. Awlaki now claims that the American Muslims who have condemned the violent acts of Major Hasan have 'committed treason against the Muslim Umaah [community] and have fallen into hypocrisy.'

"With this reversal, Mr. Al-Awlaki has clearly set himself apart from Muslims in America. We continue to send our condolences and prayers for recovery of all the victims of this godless act."

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) today repudiated online remarks by a former Virginia imam praising Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, who allegedly killed 13 people and wounded 29 others in a shooting spree last week at Fort Hood in Texas.

The posting on the web site of Anwar al-Awlaki called Hasan a “hero” and said American Muslim groups, like CAIR, that condemned the Fort Hood attack are “hypocrites” and traitors to Islam.

In a statement, CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad said: “As American Muslims said with one voice when this cowardly attack first occurred, no ideology could ever justify or excuse such violence. To call the alleged killer a ‘hero’ makes a mockery of every Islamic principle of justice. The twisted and misguided views in Anwar al-Awlaki’s posting are not those of American Muslims and do not reflect mainstream Islamic beliefs or sentiments.

Yep, the ummah has collectively condemned Nidal Hasan for the jihadi attack. Well, everyone but Duane.

CAIR is warning the ummah of the impending backlash that is sure to come in the wake of the Fort Hood attack. As you recall, a major serving in our military, went on a shooting rampage killing 13 and wounding over 30 people. And he was a devout muslim.......

UPDATE:The imam who vouched for Hasan (describing him as devout) is also a chapter member of the ISNA, another Holy Land Foundation unindicted terror coconspirator. And this from Classical Values.

He attended daily services and signed up for the mosque's matchmaking service.

"He wanted a wife more religious than him," Faizul Khan told the Daily News. "She had to pray five times a day. She had to wear the hajib. He was a young, good looking guy and a physician but he couldn't find anybody."

Khan said he never heard Hasan express any political opinions. But at least once this year, Hasan apparently went online to defend suicide bombing.

CAIR was quick to quell any public suspicion tying the Fort Hood murderous shooting rampage, perpetrated by Major Nidal Malik Hasan, to the RoP. I want to know who, exactly, needs to remain calm and united. Seems to me the problem, once again, lies within the ummah. If I’m not mistaken, this muslim was the one with the dilemma and acted on it by murdering American servicemen. And the unindicted terror coconspirators are concerned about the safety of the islamic community? Why doesn't the ADL, USCJ or SBC publish a Christian and Jewish community safety guide? Seems to me we're the folks that would benefit from such a pamphlet. Well, I think it’s time to make the case for internment. We just can’t trust muslims living in this country!

and unity.

“Unfortunately, based on past experience, we also urge American
Muslims, and those who may be perceived to be Muslim, to take appropriate
precautions to protect themselves, their families and their religious

Judge orders Muslim Mafia documents returned to CAIR

The jihadi sympathizing judge, Colleen Kollar-Kotelly, has ordered the documents procured by Chris Gaubatz when he worked as a CAIR intern be returned to the muslim civil rights group. In a lawsuit filed October 29, 2009 in DC district court, CAIR is seeking redress for the stolen property and the recordings of meeting and conversations. The suit “alleges conversion, breach of fiduciary duty, breach of contract, trespass, and violation of the Electronic Communications Privacy Act.” Chris Gaubatz signed a contract when he became an intern for the unindicted terror coconspirators, even though CAIR has not been able to produce the contract.

At first glance this may appear (as so many CAIR lawsuits do) as intimidation, a CAIR tactic to silence the opposition. What I find interesting is that the suit says nothing about liable. If CAIR is so concerned about getting these documents, (documents Chris was asked to shred BTW) taped conversations and donor lists returned, why wouldn’t they insist compensation be attached to the suit for damages inflicted by the release of the Muslim Mafia? Surely the donations have trickled and that “explore the quran” campaign has been a flop. I’ve no doubt these masters of spin can convince a judge they’ve been damaged by all the negative publicity.

Noor Almaleki is dead.....

Two weeks after her father ran her down in a parking lot with his Jeep. Faleh Hassan Almaleki was upset that his daughter, Noor, was becoming "too westernized". And, islamic family values would dictate, an honor killing would be in order. "By his own admission, this was an intentional act and the reason was that his daughter had brought shame on him and his family,” And, “This was an attempt at an honor killing.”

Still waiting for CAIR to weigh in on the new charges leveled against this upstanding muslim father.

CAIR identifies moles...

CAIR’s Nihad Awad penned an op-ed in response to the growing congressional scrutiny when four republican representatives asked the House Sergeant at Arms to investigate the muslim civil rights organization. In typical CAIR fashion the op-ed was an attack piece drawing the readers away from the real issue. Awad recounts an incident involving a CAIR intern and a group of "islam-bashers" on Capitol Hill.

“Are you a believer?” asked the participant in a Capitol Hill gathering of Islamophobes and Muslim-bashers who -- according to conference materials -- were seeking to promote “freedom of speech and religion.”
When CAIR’s intern answered, “Yes, of course,” the conference participant -- whose card indicated he works for “Encountering Islam Christian Ministry” and obviously thinking “believer” meant something other than Muslim -- replied, “Good, because we want to cut their [Muslims’] necks off.”
Just one hour later, the officially-registered intern was asked to leave the conference, which was held in the U.S. Congressional Auditorium, because “some of the panel members do not feel comfortable with you being here.”

Playing the perpetual victim is one way to deviate from the real concern. By garnering sympathy for the fictitious offence CAIR transfers focus to the accusers. In this case it’s the muslim “moles” infiltrating the Capitol Hill intern program. Well as fate would have it, CAIR identified two moles “who purchased tickets for the banquet”. Christine Brim "a hijab-clad representative of an anti-Islam group" and "counterterrorism consultant" John Cosgrove, who are in CAIR’s opinion, “notorious Islamophobes with histories of Muslim-bashing and associations with hate groups.”


By pointing out the bias one RoP intern supposedly experienced and then exposing the anti-islam moles in their midst, CAIR expects to end the congressional investigation in its tracks. The editorial is disconnected and doesn’t tackle the issues plaguing CAIR. Awad throws one insult and accusation after another in an attempt to connect the republican congressmen, the Center for Security Policy, P. David Gaubatz and the Nation Federation of Republican Women to this islamophobia machine.

CAIR Banquet; Pulling out all the stops!

During the past week I’ve been inundated with CAIR banquet whine-o-grams. Everything from bribing me with a free koran and reminding me that “past dinners have been sold out events and tickets may be unavailable if you don’t reserve yours today”, to announcing the all-star islamo-apologist lineup of speakers planning to attend this year.


Those slated to grace the muslim mafia with their presence; Jesse “Hymietown” Jackson, Paul “dare to speak out against Israel” Findley, Imam Mahdi Bray and 1993 WTC bombing unindicted coconspirator imam Siraj Wahhaj. What a stellar cast of anti-American, anti-Israel, race hustlers and jihad supporters. But it gets even better. The latest “celebrity” planning to perform at the 15th annual terror funding fest CAIR Banquet is comedian Ahmed Ahmed.


Yes, if this doesn’t compel one to purchase a family table for $1000.00 I don’t know what would!

Cue the CAIR victim card....

Well, you knew this was coming down the pike. With the release of Muslim Mafia and a call by 4 congressmen to investigate, CAIR pulls out the victim card. Ibrahim Hooper, CAIR communications director, tells The Hill of a “death threat” fax received at their DC headquarters. The fax had a picture of a gallows with this quote; 'Muslim Neanderthal Dougie Hooper (AKA Ibrahim Hooper) will be soon hanged for treason against the United States’.

Now I have a problem with this whole fax death threat. I’ve been following CAIR for a while and if this had a shred of veracity CAIR would have the FBI on the case in a New York minute. I would like to know why The Hill didn’t ask to see the death fax. Second, this is bigger news than the “throw the imams from the plane” case and it's not being reported. Strange, don't you think?

A quick google search yields ONE news source reporting this story. Now, to be honest, PR Newswire is also reporting on the threat and links to a copy of the dreaded fax. PR Newswire is the pay-to-play media marketing distributor CAIR often uses to get the word out with the hope it’ll be picked up by real news outlets.

Donning the cloak of victimhood is a CAIR trademark. From intimidating dissenting authors, religious leaders, government officials, books, talk show hosts, pundits, corporations and former muslims to soliciting the ummah for the smallest slight to boost their islamophobia annual report, the tactic is the same. Islam is under attack and muslims are being denied the special rights CAIR is so diligently fighting to obtain. In this case CAIR turns the tables to deflect interest in the real issue, the undeniable evidence pointing to a nefarious agenda.

A response to jojomellon....

Commenter, jojomellon, left a lengthy remark on my “I survived…..” post. First of all I would like to thank him for taking the time to comment and for his continued patronage to Nuggets of News.

The gracious jojomellon questioned the sincerity of my dilemma, citing passages from the book of Deuteronomy, claiming I “pick and pull only the parts of the bible that you want to follow…” I’m sure, given the time, jojomellon could have listed many more laws in the Old Testament we Christians (and many Jews), no longer follow.

And, if jojomellon is who I think he is, then he knows exactly why we don’t obey these laws. If he doesn’t, then that could only mean one thing, he didn’t pay attention in Theology class. But, for the sake of argument, I’ll suppose jojomellon is truly anonymous and explain the simplicity of my faith. Christ Jesus has fulfilled many of the Mosaic Laws. Those laws that pointed forward to the coming of the Messiah - and once He came, they were no longer needed. The same way we no longer need animal sacrifices by the Temple Priests to atone for our sins.

Does this mean we don’t have to obey ANY of the laws of Moses? Obviously not. Those laws teach us how seriously God regards sin and what it cost Him to make our salvation possible.

Answering the question why I don’t support gay marriage is quite simple. I believe it’s a sin and, if allowed to become main-stream, will cause a greater moral decay.

CAIR ridicules muslim spy claim

Today’s whine-o-gram contains an article from Politico where 4 republican congressmen {John Shadegg (Ariz.), Paul Broun (Ga.), Trent Franks (Ariz.) and Sue Myrick (N.C.)} "formally asked the House Sergeant at Arms to launch an investigation of the Center for (Council on) American-Islamic Relations. They accused CAIR, a non profit group, of trying to infiltrate Capitol Hill with interns and staffers."

In true CAIR fashion the character assassination began at once targeting the author of "Muslim Mafia: Inside the Secret Underworld that's Conspiring to Islamize America," Dave Gaubatz a former federal agent. Here's what the practioners of the RoP have to say about Gaubatz;

Along with his past rhetorical attacks on
CAIR, Dave Gaubatz has called President Obama a “crack head” and wrote that “a
vote for Hussein Obama is a vote for Sharia Law.”

He has defamed Islam’s Prophet Muhammad,
calling him a “loser” and writing that the “prophet will look at my dog and kiss
him.” In a post on the blog of a Muslim critic, the hate blogger wrote: “I
recommend to my friends and others to watch my dog lead the prayer services [at
a Washington-area mosque].”

The hate blogger has also called Islam a
“terminal disease that once spread is hard to destroy.”

CAIR noted that the blogger is a former
employee of the racist group Society of Americans for National Existence (SANE).
On its now members-only website, SANE offered a policy proposal that would make
it illegal to be a Muslim: “Whereas, adherence to Islam as a Muslim is prima
facie evidence of an act in support of the overthrow of the US. [sic] Government
through the abrogation, destruction, or violation of the US Constitution and the
imposition of Shari’a on the American People…It shall be a felony punishable by
20 years in prison to knowingly act in furtherance of, or to support the,
adherence to Islam.”

In explaining why he seeks to infiltrate
mosques and Islamic institutions nationwide, the hate blogger who targeted CAIR
wrote on the SANE web site: ‘…the real answer to Why is the fact that in this
country, our government and its myriad of agencies and bureaucracies have
determined that a priori Islam itself is NOT the evil ideology it in fact
is.”

SANE’s web site once contained the following
white supremacist language as part of its mission statement: “America is a
unique people bound together through a commitment to America’s Judeo-Christian
moral foundation and to an enduring faith and trust in G-d and in His
Providence…America was the handiwork of faithful Christians, mostly men, and
almost entirely white, who ventured from Europe to create a nation in their
image of a country existing as free men under G-d.”

Other articles on the SANE website made
other racist statements that questioned the right of African-Americans and women
to vote: “There is a reason the founding fathers did not give women or black
slaves the right to vote,’ and ‘Race matters and affects your intelligence. Jews
are the smartest white people around. Orientals smarter than Whites. Latinos
next. Then Blacks.”

Another SANE article stated: “Is there
something unique about the Black American (or, at least the Black New Yorker)
that leads him to murder so disproportionately and to most often kill and
victimize his own?”

I think CAIR is all jacked up because Gaubatz personally served Nihad Awad the subpoena at CAIR's 2008 banquet.

The congressmen’s concerns are not without merit, in a strategy document obtained by Politico; CAIR’s own agenda is laid out in black and white. “We will develop national initiatives such as lobby day and placing muslim interns in Congressional offices.”

Yesterday’s whine-o-gram highlights the plight of New York City muslims after suspected terrorist, Najibullah Zazi, was arrested in Colorado. Community activists gathered on Saturday to accuse the FBI and NYPD of racial profiling.



Several people speaking Saturday afternoon at a news conference cautioned authorities against profiling Muslims in their probe of an alleged bomb plot with links to Al Qaeda.

The suspect, Najibullah Zazi, an Afghan immigrant who worked in Denver and New York City, is being held without bond in New York. The friend, Naiz Khan, (And here’s the money quote) befriended Zazi 10 years ago at a mosque.


What I find amazing is how these RoP faithful refuse to recognize the malignancy in their community. Racial or religious profiling is not the problem; the problem exists in the ummah. Self-policing seems to be non-existent especially when the imam lets the suspect know he’s wanted by the FEDS. So much for that whole inclusion and good neighbor concept.


When CAIR calls the local police or FBI office because a mosque window has been broken or graffiti is sprayed on the outside of the building, then it’s advantageous for increased surveillance. It’s immediately called a hate crime and demands are made to involve the FBI. But keep those Geiger counters and bomb sniffing dogs away from our houses of worship. And don’t you even think of secondary security screening when a nervous, middle-eastern male between the age of 18 and 40 tries to board a plane. That’s racial profiling, just because 19 of their coreligionists murdered 3000 Americans and many more abroad is no reason to single out an entire religion. Certainly not the religion of peace.

Right???

CAIR; Getting Desperate

The 15th annual, unindicted terror coconspirators, CAIR banquet is scheduled for October 24th in Arlington Virginia. I just received an email informing the faithful if they register online by October 9th, they’ll receive a FREE koran.

The “share the quran” promo CAIR launched earlier this summer isn't working as well as they had planned. It appears many of those korans are still sitting in the DC warehouse. A quick glance at the CAIR website dedicated to the project shows little progress. Back in mid-August I posted a screen-shot of the donations, seven weeks later the unindicted terror coconspirators were only able to raise an additional $10,000.00 to distribute those warehoused korans to public officials.

This whine-o-gram leads me to believe not only are project donations down, additionally the banquet attendee response must be low as well. If you need an incentive to bring out your supporters, it tells me something is amiss among the organization. And a side note, those who take the koran bait will receive their holy book at the event.

Also, if you look at the monthly donations (upper right hand corner of the home page) you’ll see those are down as well. Maybe muslims in America realize they have it pretty damn good here and don’t want CAIR screwing it up.

I survived.....

Well, I survived the “reception” yesterday and I have a few observations.
I am not a homophobe, I am tolerant and attending did not compromise my values.

It was with much trepidation I attended the “same-sex” reception on Saturday, and while I was not uncomfortable, I was not alone in my views. When the happy couple made speeches Nick and I were not the only ones NOT applauding their commitment. I also noticed many offered “best wishes” as opposed to “congratulations” in the receiving line.

The atmosphere was more birthday party-esque with assigned family seating. We did enjoy ourselves, which had more to do with the company we kept than the event itself. Those folks I had no interest in getting to know better were still the obnoxious blowhards I’d avoided at past company and private functions. The couple was gracious, and at the same time, displayed a vitriolic self-assurance in the eventual recognition of their union in the State of Ohio.

Lessons learned; I can be tolerant and respectful without compromising my morals, faith and values. I am NOT alone. We found many like-minded folks in attendance. Militant liberals have an agenda and social conservatives are much more tolerant and charitable. Again, these are only my observations and not a scientific study. I didn’t try to impose my beliefs on other attendees, but the same could not be said of the opposition.

Am I a better person for my respectful attendance? I don’t know, anyone who knows me will tell you I don't think all that highly of myself to begin with. I’m human, a sinner and fall short of Our Lords grace. While I was able to see people as individuals and not part of a group or an exploitative special interest, something in the back of my mind continued to bother me. Could my mere attendance be misconstrued and infer acceptance?

Blog Fodder; A personal dilemma

It’s been a very busy 4 weeks. What have I been up to? Well, two trips to South Carolina, a visit from my brother and sister-in-law, Christopher was in yet another car accident and a weekend visit from my niece and her fiancé. Now it appears we won’t have a free weekend until November.

Tomorrow, Nick and I will be attending a “reception” for one of his coworkers. October 10th we will travel to Cleveland for a family wedding. And various work commitments Nick has to perform the last two weekends of the month ensure minimal down time.

The event we’re attending tomorrow is something I’ve been struggling with for about two months. You see, it’s a same-sex couple. Over the summer they were “married” in another state where it is legal and recognized.

While looking for wedding cards for our family member I came across a plethora of civil union and same-sex wedding cards. Columbus has a sizable gay community so I wasn’t all that shocked to see them stocked between the birthday and sympathy card section. However, I couldn’t bring myself to purchase one. I left with 2 wedding cards, one from Nick and me and one for Christopher (incase he forgets). A gift card in a small gift bag with an inscription on the tag; “Best Wishes, Nick and Janice” should suffice. It’s the best I could muster and at the same time I feel like a hypocrite.

I just traveled 555 miles to “celebrate” my best friend’s 40th birthday. Like I’ve stated before, we are polar opposites on many issues and I don’t condone a lot of her actions. I’ve confronted her, as she has done to me, regarding questionable deeds clearly outside our character. Yet we’ve never questioned our lifestyle choices.

I suppose I’m trying to reconcile the character of this couple and their lifestyle. Like my best friend, we differ on many issues. On the other hand I have found them to be hospitable, friendly and decent people. In spite of that I still can’t rejoice, honor or venerate their union.

What I think......

If President Barack Hussein Obama (it’s OK, we can use his middle name now) was going to destroy this country, what would he do differently?

Here’s a small sampling of the issues I’ve been thinking about the past two weeks.

The apparent weakness of this administration has empowered the “sleeper cells” and "jihadi wannabes" in this country over the last month. The inability to identify evil and how to kill it has left “Pat” and DHS sitting on their hands while the FBI do the real work of keeping this nation safe. We have to be right 100% of the time, the enemy only has to succeed once. At least CAIR has been silent on defending these terrorists.

The abandonment of our allies for the adoration of dictators seems to be a fair trade. Appeasing the islamo-nut-bag, who’s hell-bent on “wiping Israel off the map” and ushering in the mahdi so we can all live under an islamic caliphate. Nice… And the impostor-in-chief continues to utilize Kramer vs. Kramer chocolate chip ice cream diplomacy. Keep drawing that line in the sand, Barry, I don’t think Iran will cross it this time!

They own most of our debt and have recently announced their military power is on equal footing with the west; New York City will honor, aka celebrate, communist China on their 60th anniversary and illuminate the Empire State Building in red and yellow. Where’s Richard Gere?

Granting a VISA to the Libyan mass murder and providing a platform from which he was able to spew hatred, as Honduran President Roberto Micheletti is denied entry. Barry describes the current temporary government “illegal”. At the same time announcing the white house will be renamed the house of czars.

The gory details....

STATS: The first road trip in the Vette was awesome and uneventful. I drove 555 miles on ONE tank of gas and pulled into Gennie’s driveway after traveling for 6 hours and 50 minutes. My average speed was 85 MPH and I averaged 30 miles to the gallon.

OBSERVATIONS; Folks in West Virginia need to work on their driving etiquette. When you see a fast blue object approaching from behind move to the right. I’m just sayin’.

Drivers in Virginia have to learn how to use the HOV lane. Especially mothers in mini-vans with a bunch of kids. I used the HOV lane accidentally since I always drive in the far left lane.

Those of you from North Carolina should realize I-77 is NOT Charlotte Motor Speedway. I don’t mind traveling 15 miles above the speed limit with “ya’ll”, but I draw the line at passing on the right, changing 3 lanes at one time and using the shoulder to go around cars already traveling 95mph.

South Carolina drivers are much more relaxed with West Virginia manners.

As is customary when Gennie and I get together, sleep was virtually nonexistent. Gennie, Megan and I caught up until Eric came home from work and we had dinner. Later that evening Gennie’s girlfriend called to see if "the best friend from Ohio” had arrived and came over to meet me. Brenda and I were born on the same day (January 8th) and could have been separated at birth. We hit it off right away and I can see why Gennie and Brenda are such great friends.

Once Eric and Megan went to bed the 3 of us chatted until 2am. After Brenda left Gennie and I changed clothes and went to relax in the hot tub. We didn’t get to bed until 5:30 Wednesday morning just in time to get Megan up for school. We didn’t nap very long; I got up at 8:30 and Gennie at 9.

Wednesday afternoon we met Eric for lunch and then we were off to do some shopping. Later that evening we met Brenda and her husband Aaron for drinks and I was introduced to a few acquaintances who all claimed were so happy to finally meet me after hearing so much about me. I am humbled by (and undeserving of) the high regard in which I’m held by my friend. It was an early night and we retired around 3am.

Thursday was Gennie’s actual birthday and a group of us girls went to dinner. (Brenda is sitting to my right and Gennie is across from me)

The birthday card I gave her that night said something to the effect of "I wanted male strippers not nail clippers for my birthday", with a group of elderly women clipping their nails.

The gift bag contained a dozen nail clippers for Gennie to pass out to us girls, to which I applied a sticker saying “Gennie Turns the BIG 4-OH” with the date. Everyone thought it was a great party favor idea. After dinner we dropped Megan off at home and met up with the girls at a local watering hole to continue the party. Nick, Eric and Aaron arrived later. This would be another late, hot tub night for Gennie and me. We went to bed around 5am.

On Friday evening the 6 of us (Aaron and Brenda, Eric and Gennie, me and Nick) went out to dinner. Eric made reservations at the Mill Pond Steakhouse complete with limo service.

We were picked up at 7:15 and 40 minutes later we pulled up to what looked like a rundown shack. Looks were definitely deceiving. The Boykin Mill Pond was built sometime before 1820 and has a rich history.

Truly a fine dinning experience.

A semi-early evening, we only stayed up until 3am.

Saturday was the birthday open house and we were expecting 40-50 people throughout the afternoon and evening. Since I don’t really drink and planned to remain sober Saturday, I was assigned several responsibilities designed to keep order and defuse drama. My beloved Corvette, Nick’s Z28, Gennie’s STS and Eric’s Tahoe were parked in the community pool parking lot a few miles from the house, one of the responsibilities entailed driving them safely back to the house once the party ended.

Gennie’s eldest son, Anthony, flew in from Texas to help celebrate.

My longtime friend (Gennie's ex-husband) Lee was taking Megan for the evening.

Nick and I enjoyed catching up with him and snapping a few pictures.

This would be another late night. Once the cars were back in the driveway, Gennie and I stayed up until 4:30am catching up and relaxing in the hot tub.

Nick left to go home Sunday morning while I went boating. Gennie, her two sons,

Eric and his sister Monica joined Aaron and Brenda for a few hours on the lake. Monica

and I boarded Aaron’s boat since we weren’t interested in water skiing.

Monday morning came way too soon. Again, we didn’t go to bed until 4:30 and I was leaving at 10am. Our departures are sad and tearful so I try to leave before she awakes. When I went out to put my bags in the car I realized she parked behind me on purpose and hide her key-fob. We held our tears and I didn't start to cry until I drove around the corner and could no longer see her standing on her front porch.

It was a great week that seemed to end too quickly. Even though we talk every week, it’ll be another 6 months to a year before we see each other. I’m sure if we didn’t wait so long between visits we may get more sleep, but it wouldn’t be as exciting.
