Kobe Bryant; Proud to be an American!

I’m not a big NBA fan, but I am proud to be an American and a brand new Kobe Bryant Lakers fan.

In an interview with Cris Collinsworth, Kobe Bryant explains how “thrilled” he felt when he received his team USA uniform, saying he “just stared at it” and what an honor it was for him to have it.

Here's some of the interview;
Collinsworth: "Where does the patriotism come from inside of you? Historically, what is it?"

Kobe: "Well, you know it’s just our country, it’s… we believe is the greatest country in the world. It has given us so many great opportunities, and it’s just a sense of pride that you have; that you say ‘You know what? Our country is the best!"

Collinsworth: "Is that a ‘cool’ thing to say, in this day and age? That you love your country, and that you’re fighting for the red, white and blue? It seems sort of like a day gone by."

Kobe: "No, it’s a cool thing for me to say. I feel great about it, and I’m not ashamed to say it. I mean, this is a tremendous honor."

That's what I call an American Patriot! Way to go Kobe!

It's really sad to see how surprised Collinsworth was with his answers and the genuine honor and pride Kobe expressed.

Great smackdown! At least in Collinsworth's world of jaded journalists, America is a bad place. Journalists and Kobe Bryant fans alike need to be reminded of America's greatness.

I'm a Collinsworth fan, so I'd like to believe that Kris asked the question that way to accent and highlight Kobe's feelings on the matter...

But good for Kobe - and his many young fans that listened to the interview.

It's a "breath of fresh air" to hear celebs praise this country, overseas no less, and not run America down.

I'm a HUGE b-ball fan but not really a big fan of Kobe's (I'm a Shaq fan). You could have knocked me over with a feather when I saw this clip of him proclaiming his pride in our country.

Sure made me rethink my opinion of him...(can't say it did of Collinsworth - sorry Mallott!)

U-S-A!

Good for Kobe!

Yes, he is imperfect. Yes, he is human. But, YES! HE IS AN AMERICAN AND PROUD OF IT!

That is awesome.

It's also awesome that the media actually shared that instead of blocking it out...so, good for them too.
