Things that make you go hummm....

Eureka!

Your humble blogger, and I can safely say my blogging twin, Dinah Lord think this may be the root of all the sexual weirdness going on in the ummah.

Is it me, or do these guys look a tad embarrassed, by this “religious” experience?

Strangely enough, this odd looking, umm, hole in that black meteorite is named Hajar….. Sounds like Hagar, the mother of Ishmael. I’m just sayin’ is all.

You can all come to your own conclusions regarding the symbolism of this thing named Hajar. I’m extremely interested in how Chris Malott will opine.

So what exactly is this thing, and how does it fit in Islam?

I'm sorry Skye, I should have posted the link as well. It's a hole on the side of the kabah. When prigrims march around it during the hajj, if close enough they kiss it.

Disturbing... Yet strangely alluring. I want to look away, and find that I can't.

This object somehow reminds me of "religious experiences" I've had in the past.

LOL!

Now that's the kinda response I was looking for!

Thanks for weighing in with your thoughts, Chris.

LOL. There's your ROOT CAUSE of the madness in the ummah all right!

Hmmm. I hadn't made the Mother of Ishmael connection....I think you may be onto something twin.

Malott - you are hysterical.

It is a well-known fact that many of the pre-Islam Arab tribes were obsessed with sex, certainly beyond what we Westerners would call normal. MTP pandered to that salacious attitude. Hence, the Kaaba!

I wasn't going to comment, but I can't help it.

This "thing" reminds me of the "Everybody Loves Raymond" episode where the mother-in-law, Marie, takes up sculpting and makes something eerily similar to this "thing". The rest of the family immediately sees the sexual resemblance, but she can't. It's a good episode, but now I'm wondering if they used this "thing" as a model!

Christina - I had forgotten all about that Raymond episode. It was hysterical!
