Sayin' good-bye to an old friend....

I’m selling my beloved Camaro. It’s become painfully apparent she’s going to need some work in the near future and I’m not ready to buy a new car just yet.

Nick drove my car to work this morning so his boss could get some pictures and take her for a test drive. He’s looking to purchase a car for his son. Once he knew my car was 7 years old with only 26,000 miles it was almost a done deal, sight unseen.

We were asking $10,000.00 and Nick just emailed me with his counter offer of $9,500.00, we’re going to take it. I would only get about $6000.00 on a trade in depending on what I was buying.

So, instead of opening the door to my garage and seeing this.....

I'll be seeing only one Camaro. Red is my least favorite color, but I think I can suffer for a while until the 2009 Camaros are in the showroom next spring. I guess driving Nick's '02 Z28 for nine months won't kill me. I could be hoofin' it.

So long old friend....

I don't quite comprehend your loss, though I was sad when my Van-essa gave up the ghost after 248,000 miles. She was a minivan and my dream car at the time (captain's chairs for the kids so they wouldn't touch each other, and a slider door so my daughter couldn't ding other cars in the parking lot when she opened the door).

I have a friend who loves convertibles, especially Scarlett, a red BMW Z3 that she leased and had to turn back in. She has since discovered the BMW Z8, which she can't afford, because even used they're selling at over $128,000. But she's lusting for it all the same.

I can only sympathize, as I drive my little Toyota with the fractured bumper from the time the tow-ball came off the hitch and my car bumped into my mom's motorhome while we were on our trip.

The new look of your garage certainly is half-empty, and I will be with you in my thoughts as you endure the long, l-o-n-g time until the 2009 comes out.

Thanks Skye,

I'm sure you understand this was a tongue and cheek post. I know how blessed I am.

However, I do have this addiction to small, fast, shiny cars.

$9,500 seems like a pretty good deal for a car with relatively little mileage. I could have bought it, and, like, shipped it across the Pacific ocean or something. And then convince this country to drive on the right hand side just to suit me.

Or you could move to America....

There's an idea.
