MEDIA ADVISORY -
Muslim Coalition to Hold Briefing on Obama Trip, Civil Liberties Concerns
(WASHINGTON, D.C., 4/3/2009) - On Monday, April 6, the American Muslim Taskforce on Civil Rights and Elections (AMT), a coalition of major national Islamic organizations, will hold a noon news briefing at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., to discuss President Obama’s visit to Turkey and how that visit relates to issues such as:
- the rise of Islamophobia in the U.S.
- deteriorating relations between the FBI and American Muslims,
- the dissemination of inaccurate and agenda-driven information by DHS-recognized “fusion centers,” and
- Muslims’ concerns about new Justice Department guidelines that allow race and ethnicity to be factors in opening an FBI probe.

WHAT: AMT News Briefing on Obama Trip and U.S. Muslim Concerns
WHEN: Monday, April 6, Noon (Eastern)
WHERE: National Press Club, Zenger Room, 13th Floor, National Press Club Building, 529 14th Street N.W., Washington, D.C.
CONTACT: AMT Chairman Dr. Agha Saeed, Tel: 510-299-9313, EMail:aghaksaeed@yahoo.com
“While it is vitally important for President Obama to reach out to the Muslim world, it is equally important that he address serious concerns American Muslims have about domestic policies that negatively impact civil liberties and seem to reflect the growth of Islamophobic attitudes in our nation,” said AMT Chairman Dr. Agha Saeed.
As “The One” and "Blackie-O" trek around Europe, the muslim coalition AMT plans to “Hold a Briefing on Obama Trip, Civil Liberties Concerns”. Other than congratulating BHO on his “blame America first” and “America will capitulate” European tour, I’m not sure what AMT will address. I’ll post an update once the self-congratulatory whine-o-gram hits my inbox.
