Remember the veterans, thank a soldier

Memorial Day usually finds me in Charlotte, NC. My best friend relocated 10 years ago and the long weekend offered us an opportunity to visit and join in the Coke Cola 600 race festivities. Fast cars, good eats and patriotism overload always lead to a great time. This year we are staying home and entertaining family with hot dogs and my nieces favorite desert, Ambrosia salad. My yard will be decorated with flags and I'll attend mass prior to arriving guests. My husband will set up the portable TV on the deck and watch the race outside. Somewhere in between the invocation and the national anthem my family will take a few moments and remember those who paid the ultimate sacrifice so we can live free. If you have a chance this weekend, thank a soldier for the freedom we all enjoy.

Idiot, it's "your" not "you're". Who else do we thank, the teamsters?

Anonymous,

Except for all those young men willing to fight and die form their country, we would not be free.

Shall we agree that they deserve 95% of the credit... and thanks?

Anonymous,

I don't want to attack you at all, but I am curious...who, besides veterans and current soldiers, would you thank?

I was under the impression that people usually "memorialize" those who have died or served others, and in this case, that would be those who have served or died in the service of the United States.

So who else would you include?

Anonymous (kevin) I believe you brought this on yourself my friend. I'm in agreement with everyone else here, I'm sorry you're so far on the anti-American left. Good luck defending your position.
*note the 2 correct uses of
"your & you're"? I graduated from Maple Heights Senior High as well, how come I can get it right? Oh,
that's because I am on the right!
